Dr. Stuart: Graduate of Ontario Veterinary College, 1999. In 2015, after more than 15 years of running a successful locum practice in both the U.K. and southern Ontario, he decided it was time to leave the city to move north with his family to where their hearts always were. In his practice, his passion is to find the patterns in his patients' illnesses to improve their quality of life and prevent future illness. Colleagues often ask him about advanced pain relief therapies for their patients. He continues to take courses on pain management to ensure his patients are as comfortable as possible, and is a member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. In 2016, Bruce became the proud owner of Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital and is looking forward to serving his clients for many years to come. Outside of clinic life, Dr. Stuart enjoys curling and riding his fat bike, as well as skiing, foraging and playing board games with his wife and two sons. At home he enjoys snuggles with his demanding cat, Monte.
Dr. Smith: Graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College, 2003. Alec holds certificates in orthopedic surgery and is a member of AOVET (a worldwide organization supporting excellence in orthopedic surgery) and a graduate of its basic and advanced courses for fracture repair. He is also a member of the Veterinary Orthopedic Society and the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association. In 2017, Alec joined Bruce and Domenic as proud owners of Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital. Alec enjoys the challenge of finding creative healthcare solutions for patients and their families. He is known to love explaining things to help clients understand what is happening with their pets’ health and enjoys mentoring volunteers, students and technicians. Alec enjoys spending time with his family and loves helping his two daughters learn and grow. Alec is also an accomplished sailor and has won several racing titles; he loves the adventure of sailing toward the horizon on the greatest freshwater lake in the world, Lake Superior! Skiing, hiking, fishing and exploring the outdoors also help him recharge. Alec's family is currently home to a standard poodle Zuri, a cat Ellie, and a cuddly guinea pig, Peanut.

His interests lie in internal medicine, ophthalmology (eyes), pain relief and physical rehabilitation. He focuses on preventive medicine, working with families to help them and their pets enjoy life. He is currently working towards certification in canine physical rehabilitation. Domenic is very passionate about his family and his free time is spent enjoying the outdoors, camping and hiking with his wife and three children. Currently he has a domestic long haired cat named Molly, who he describes as a “pain in the butt” who loves to curl up and cuddle. Domenic is also involved in various community groups, volunteering as a coach and enjoys long distance running.
